Hazard Communication Advanced for All Industries Online Course Description: The advanced Hazard Communication Awareness online safety course covers the essential elements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication (often referred to as HazCom) Standard as found in 29 CFR 1910.1200. This course will familiarize you with the essential elements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), including the 2012 GHS revisions incorporating the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.
This online training course has been developed directly from OSHA’s Hazard Communication requirements as outlined in the revised (2012) OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and is intended to help employees understand the essentials of Hazard Communication (HazCom).
Intended Audience: This online Hazard Communication (HazCom) Advanced training is principally intended to provide workers that routinely work with or are otherwise exposed to hazardous chemicals the required training and information above the Introductory or Awareness level. It is also intended for Supervisors and Managers that oversee employees with routine exposure risk or employees who may otherwise be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. This training is applicable to Employers and Employees in nearly all places of employment, including Construction, General Industry, Manufacturing, Service and Transportation Services, among others.

Learning Aids: This Hazard Communication Advanced online safety course will explain what hazardous chemicals are and how these chemicals can affect the human body. We will also present the student with the different types of hazardous chemicals, as well as what is required on chemical product labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS) and the newer safety data sheets (SDS).
Following this training the student should be able to:
- Describe the benefits provided to employees by the HAZCOM Standard.
- List at least 4 fundamental elements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS).
- List the 3 primary areas of change to OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS).
- Describe at least 4 required elements of a hazardous chemical label.
- Identify the hazards represented by the 9 GHS pictograms.
- Describe the primary benefits of using an MSDS or an SDS for a hazardous chemical.
- Identify at least 3 of the employer’s fundamental responsibilities under the hazard communication standard.
- Recognize when training beyond the scope of this advanced course is necessary.
